College Street Church of Christ. A Church That Cares.

History of the College Street Church of Christ

In the Spring of 1905, a small group of Christians who lived in Waxahachie banded together to establish a congregation of the Lord's church in the city. In November 1905 the College Street Church of Christ met in their new building for the very first time.
In 1937 the congregation had outgrown the original building, and plans were made to build a larger meeting place on the same site. Worship services were held in the city's Chautauqua Auditorium until the new building was completed in October of 1939.
This new building was completed in May of 1964, and remains in use by the College Street congregation today.
During the 1970’s and 1980’s the church acquired additional adjacent property that later was used to build the Fellowship wing, built in 2001
As growth of the church continues, the Elders purchased an 18-acre tract of land for future development in October 2004. The land is situated next to Waxahachie Junior High School on Brown Street, north of Hwy 287. It will serve us well when the time comes to build a new facility.
